Bathrooms need different board
Regular drywall and daily showers are enemies. In bathrooms we use moisture-resistant panels on the walls and cement backer board behind any tile — the shower surround, the tub walls. These materials do not feed mold the way standard board does.
Where each material goes
- Behind tile (shower/tub): cement backer board. Non-negotiable. Tile over regular drywall in a shower is a failure waiting to happen.
- Bathroom walls and ceiling: moisture-resistant drywall, finished and painted with bathroom-appropriate paint.
- Exhaust fan: not our trade, but we will say it — no fan, no drywall warranty on the ceiling. Steam has to go somewhere.

We do the drywall phase of bathroom remodels: hang, finish, texture to match. We coordinate with your plumber and tile setter on timing. If you are still planning, our types of drywall guide explains the materials.
